In yesterday's Sports section, an article about the first day of the White Marlin Open in Ocean City incorrectly reported the potential winnings for the angler in first place in the white marlin category, the potential winnings for the angler in first place in the blue marlin category and listed as runner-up a white marlin that failed to measure up to the tournament's minimum weight of 65 pounds. As of Monday night, Chris Rosenthal's white marlin was worth $1.5 million and Mitch Pierson's blue marlin was worth $366,610. A 61.5-pound white marlin caught by Craig Clark did not qualify.
In an article last week and a column Sunday about Virginia's decision to limit menhaden fishing, Chesapeake Bay Foundation President Will Baker was incorrectly quoted as describing the agreement as a compromise. In fact, Baker called the agreement "a wonderful balance between conservation and commerce."
