Checking for sobriety The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County police departments are planning sobriety checkpoints.

Annapolis police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint for traffic leavingdowntown at Rowe Boulevard at Taylor Avenue from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today.

Anne Arundel County police will conduct two sobriety checkpoints in Glen Burnie -from 10 p.m. until midnight today on northbound Ritchie Highway and 6th Avenue, and from 12:15 a.m. to 3 a.m. tomorrow on southbound Ritchie Highway at Georgia Avenue.

Nominees sought for Pace award

The Anne Arundel County Human Relations Commission will be accepting nominations for the Dallas G. Pace Sr. Human Relations Award until Aug. 31.

The award honors a person who has contributed to the realization of human relations goals for the betterment of county residents and will be presented in January at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast at Anne Arundel Community College.
