As the World Cup finals kick off today in Berlin, millions around the globe sit glued to their TV sets. And while the sport of soccer has never quite exploded on American soil like it has in nearly every other country, it's a major day for soccer fans, regardless of geography. If you are among the many soccer enthusiasts in the area who can't get enough of the sport, check out the new exhibit Soccer: Planet at Play, running through Oct. 29 at the National Geographic Museum in Washington. The exhibit features photographs and video highlights of the game being played in every corner of the world, from Brazil and Haiti to Zambia and Sumatra.
