MRS. CATHERINE LOUISE PENCE MARTIN, 78 of Taneytown, MD died on Monday, June 26, 2006 at her home. Born January 6, 1928 at Markers Mill, Carroll Co., Maryland she was a daughter of the late Eugene Albert and Bessie Mary Warner Pence. She was the wife of Glenn J. "Hoppy" Martin who died in 1988. Mrs. Martin retired after 27 years with the C&P; Telephone Co. of Maryland from the engineering department. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Taneytown and taught in the church sunday school. She was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of Sulpher Springs Lioness Club. Survivors include son & daughter-in-law Philip E. and Ruth Martin, Littlestown, PA; son & daughter-in-law Michael J. and Donna Martin, Prince George, VA; daughter Faye L. Copenhaver, Littleton, CP; daughter & son-in-law Patricia Elaine and Ron Miles, Finksburg, MD., daughter-in-law Linda Martin, Canadaensis, PA. Also 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and longtime friend Leonard O. Shatzer, Taneytown, MD. She was pre-deceased by son Ronald G. Martin and sister Ruth E. Reaver. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, July 1, 2006 from Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown. Her pastor Rev. Stephen Ostendorf-Snell officiating. Interment will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday, June 30 at the Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and 10 to 11 A.M. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Church of Christ-Scholarship Fund, 49 W.
