On Friday, June 23, RITA GAIL BAER (nee Landau), of Columbus, OH, died at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care, Hospice of Baltimore in Baltimore MD, from complications of sudden cardiac arrest. Mrs. Baer was born September 23, 1931 in Cleveland, where she lived most of her life. In 1980, she moved with her family to Cincinnati. The family moved to Columbus in 1985. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie and Ben Landau, and in 2005 by her husband of 54 years, Sheldon Baer. She is survived by daughters Rhonda Baer of Columbus, and Marcy Baer (Steve Sullivan) of Towson, MD; son David Baer of Columbus; grandchildren Courtland, Flannery and Moira Sullivan of Towson, MD and Cullen Baer of Columbus; a cousin, Alfred Zacharias of Bothell, WA; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial was held June 25 at Sol Levinson and Brothers Funeral Home in Pikesville. A family memorial service is planned for Sunday, July 9, at the residence in Columbus.
