ANTIQUING WEEKENDS: 52 EXCURSIONS ACROSS AMERICA
Universe Publishing / Rizzoli International / $24.95
Some say there are two kinds of people in the world: those who love antiquing and those who don't. This book is for the former. Indeed, once you have the antiquing bug, there apparently is no going back. Author Gladys Montgomery knows this, and in her guide she describes antique shops, antique dealers and antiquing destinations in large cities and small towns -- one for every weekend of the year. She also mentions nearby attractions and suggests lodging opportunities -- most are historic accommodations. The back section features detailed listings of the shops and a nationwide calendar of antique shows.
Sleep tight, do your yoga right
Mints are out. Yoga is in. Instead of hyping guests up with chocolate on the pillow, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts is helping them unwind from travel-related stresses by leaving a turndown card called "A Good Night From YogaAway." The card directs travelers to a free, 11-minute relaxation video available on their in-room television. The card also features an inspiring message from YogaAway, the Denver-based provider of yoga experiences. Information: 303-534-4459 or yogaaway.com.

You can't stop the music
The Essence Music Festival has relocated to Houston for 2006 because of continuing repairs at the New Orleans Superdome. The festival, produced by the publishers of Essence magazine, considers New Orleans its home. But extensive damage caused last summer by Hurricane Katrina prompted a temporary move to Houston's Reliant Park.
The festival, July 1-3, will feature concerts as well as motivational seminars. This year's scheduled performers include Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Cedric the Entertainer and more. About 50 hotels are offering special rates.

Barbecue for breakfast? Believe it
Kansas City, Mo., is so proud of its barbecue that one place even dishes it up for breakfast. Southmoreland on the Plaza, an award-winning bed-and-breakfast, has a tradition of serving a barbecue breakfast during warm months. Guests eat on the inn's courtyard deck.
The meal starts with a fruit frappe, followed by grilled selections that include molasses-brined pork chops, croissant French toast stuffed with grilled peaches and topped with a pecan maple bourbon glaze, and plum kebabs with cardamom sugar. Visit southmoreland.com.
