'Garfield' lacks novelty

There are worse things than watching a second Garfield movie. I just can't think of them now.

Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties is tedious almost beyond endurance, an exercise in diminishing returns that takes the minor pleasures of the first film (so minor that none of them comes to mind, either) and makes believe the public is desperately clamoring for more. They aren't, and this film explains why.

Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (20th Century Fox) Starring Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, voice of Bill Murray. Directed by Tim Hill. Rated PG. Time 78 minutes.
