Hospital in need of blood donors

Anne Arundel Medical Center is experiencing a critical supply shortage of all types blood, especially O-positive. The center relies primarily on its own blood bank rather than donations from the Red Cross or on blood purchases.

The center's blood bank is open for donations:

Mondays, 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Health Department schedules activities

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health's sun safety mascot, "Alex the Alligator," will visit public libraries to teach children ages 3 to 7 about sun safety:

Medical center plans yoga classes

Anne Arundel Medical Center is offering yoga classes:

"Beginning Yoga," the basics of Hatha yoga, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, or 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

"Continuing Yoga," an intermediate class, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

"Mom and Baby Yoga and Infant Massage," 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays. The fee is $40 for four weeks.

"Mommy and Me," which covers postpartum issues, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Fridays.

"Therapeutic Yoga," covers comfort levels, breathing exercises and focus, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays.
