Carroll County: Arrest
Woman accused of giving liquor to kids
A 42-year-old Westminster woman was arrested yesterday and charged with serving alcohol to minors at a party held at her home, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said.
Catherine M. Gunther of the 4700 block of Band Hall Hill Road was charged with 16 counts of contributing to the condition of a child and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
If convicted, she could receive a prison sentence of up to three years, said David P. Daggett, Carroll County deputy state's attorney. A two-week investigation by the state's attorney's office and the sheriff's office led to Gunther's arrest, officials said.
Ten minors from the Westminster, Hampstead and Manchester areas were charged with possessing and consuming alcohol about 1 a.m. May 27 in connection with a party at Gunther's home, police said.
Gunther was released on her own recognizance from the Carroll County Detention Center.
