K. Helene Warfield, 74, accounting administrator


K. Helene Warfield, a retired accounting administrator, died of complications from Parkinson's disease Friday at Broadmore, a Hagerstown assisted-living facility. She was 74.

Katherine Helene Gray was born on her family's farm in Olney and later moved to West Friendship. She was a graduate of Lisbon High School.

Mrs. Warfield, who never used her first name, had worked in restaurant and hotel management before holding jobs as an accounting administrator for two Hagerstown security companies. She retired in 2001.

She was a former member of Bethany Lane Baptist Church in Ellicott City and a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Hagerstown, where she had lived since 1976.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville.

Surviving are two daughters, Ellen C. Bachtell of Hagerstown and Debra A. Warfield of Pittsburgh; two sons, Warren D. Warfield of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Scott M. Warfield of Laurel; five sisters, Thelma Mack of Reisterstown, Edith Myers of Glen Rock, Pa., Ruth Ridgely of Ellicott City, Joan Cunningham of Hallwood, Va., and Jean Sirk of Woodbine; and four grandchildren. Her marriage to David R. Warfield ended in divorce.
