Bear Branch offers summer programs
Bear Branch Nature Center at Hashawha Environmental Center offers programs for all ages.
End of School Campfire for all ages from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Hot dogs, s'mores and campfire stories will be featured. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers.
"Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs," fly fishing for teens ages 11 to 15 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Hashawha. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will offer beginner fly fishing. Free registration is required.
Teen Bike Trip and C&O; Canal Tour from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday for ages 13 to 18. Meet at the nature center and drive to Brunswick to pedal seven miles along the C&O; towpath to Harpers Ferry. After lunch and ice cream in Harpers Ferry, bike back to Brunswick. Teens must provide a bike, helmet, bell, water, spending money and bag lunch. Snacks and beverages will be provided. The cost is $12 for members and $18 for nonmembers.
All About Nature for ages 7 to 11 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 22 on streams. The cost is $2 for members and $3 for nonmembers.
Registration is required.

Piney Run offers kayak lessons
Piney Run Park is offering kayak lessons for adults.
The basics of flat water kayaking and safety will be taught to those who know how to swim. Participants should take sunscreen, a water bottle and towel.
Adult lessons for those 12 and older cost $30. One-time classes will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 25, July 2 and July 16.
Registration with payment must be made in advance.
