Student patrollers honored by AAA

Two Anne Arundel County students have been named outstanding safety patrollers by AAA Mid-Atlantic. More than 4,000 students in the state participate in the traffic safety program, but only 17 were recognized as outstanding, according to AAA. Each student received a plaque and a $150 U.S. Savings Bond.

The two Anne Arundel students honored are Lindsey Bittinger of Churchton, a student at Deale Elementary School, and Sierra Matta Kinslow of Odenton, a student at Calvary Baptist Church Academy.

Patrollers help protect fellow students from traffic dangers. The program began in the 1920s to help combat child pedestrian deaths.
