Doris Marie Ramsay, a homemaker who had been a travel agent and teacher, died of a circulatory ailment Friday at St. Joseph Medical Center. The Timonium resident was 77.
Born Doris Marie Solomon in Baltimore and raised in Pimlico, she was a 1947 graduate of Forest Park High School. She earned an education degree at what is now Towson University and taught in the Baltimore school system until the birth of her first child. She later was a travel agent in downtown Baltimore and in Lutherville and retired 10 years ago.
Mrs. Ramsay played golf weekly at Hillendale Country Club and the Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club, where she also held chairmanships. She played bridge.
"She loved her golf, crabs and Ocean City," said her husband of 55 years, Dr. C. Baker Ramsay, a dentist who practices on Joppa Road.
Survivors also include three daughters, Deborah R. Bienert and Denise M. Vigliotti, both of Bel Air, and Diane R. Grande of Glen Arm; a sister, Olga G. Herbek of Charlottesville, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity in Timonium, where she was a member.
