Goal setting can be challenging.
However, it is important to set SMART goals to be successful. All of your goals should be specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic and time-bound.
Work with your manager to set goals so that you are in agreement on their importance and usefulness. Write out your goals to make them clearer and refer to them often so you can remain focused throughout the performance period. Work on your goals daily and track your progress. Regardless of the compensation you receive from your manager, remember to reward yourself for accomplishing your goals.
