CCC offers kids theater camps
Students enrolled in Cecil Community College's Young People's Theatre Program Summer on Stage 2006 classes will act out Reality Bites on June 23 and perform But Do Bed Bugs Bite? on Aug. 4 in the Elkton Station Performing Arts Hall.
Registration is being taken now for the one- to two-week program that offers an overall theater experience for children ages 5 to 18.
A parent orientation meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave. Parents and students are invited to meet the staff, see the facility, and learn about the program.
"Reality Bites" is a one-week camp for 16- to 18-year-olds in which two comedy plays will be performed. Other plays include The Apple, Holka Polka and The Green Chile Rebellion of 1899.
Bed Bugs and The Apple are offered for children ages 5 to 10, while Holka Polka and The Green Chile Rebellion of 1899 are for 11- to 15-year-olds.
Students looking to stretch their acting skills without focusing on one play can register for "Workshop Week" sessions for 5- to 10-year-olds and 11- to 15-year-olds.

Theatreworks sets musical workshops
Theatreworks ... Live! Inc. will hold musical theater workshops this summer at St. Mary's Episcopal Church activity building, St. Mary's Church Road and Route 924 in Abingdon.
Available programs, all held from June 26 to July 13 (not July 4) include:
Theatreworks Jr. for ages 5-8: from 9 a.m. to noon. Children will learn all aspects of theater by preparing for a short musical play.
Musical Theatreworks for ages 9 to 13: from 9:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Children learn character development, vocal presentation and movement while producing a one-act play.
Advanced Theatreworks for ages 14 to 18: from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Advanced scenes, songs, dances and monologues will be the focus of this group.
The cost is $130 for ages 5-8, and $230 for others.
