GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wichita State had 12 days between a semifinal loss in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and its NCAA opener. The time was put to good use, as the seventh-seeded Shockers completed their most memorable basketball weekend in 25 years yesterday with an 80-73 conquest of Tennessee.
The Volunteers became the first No. 2 seed to fall in the NCAA tournament. Wichita State moves on to the third round in the Washington Regional.
