Communications Electronics acquired Nationwide Wireless along with that company's locations in White Marsh and Pasadena. The purchase makes the Timonium-based wireless communications dealer the largest exclusive independent Cingular dealer in the Baltimore area with nine locations.


American Capital Strategies Ltd. of Bethesda will open a Boston office as it develops a technology team to expand investment activity in that sector. The team will be headed by Andy Fillat and Tony Abate. The firm currently has $900 million invested in 10 technology companies.

MRA Property Management Inc., headquartered in Abingdon, will expand into southern Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore with the opening of an office in Georgetown, Del.

Name change

Warschawski Public Relations has shortened its name to Warschawski to better reflect the breadth of services it offers. All letterhead and business cards now contain the terms public relations, marketing and branding. The corporate color of yellow remains the same. David Warschawski founded the Baltimore company nearly 10 years ago.


Fortune magaizine named Elkton-based Elixir Guitar Strings, a unit of W.I. Gore Associates, as the fifth-best place to work in the United States.

New clients

DPR Group, located in Germantown, has been selected as agency of record by Avineon Inc. to develop and execute strategic public relations initiatives for the information technology services provider.

Vitamin, a Baltimore-based design and public relations firm, added Garrison & Sisson, a Washington attorney search firm; Livingston Associates, a public radio search firm; and Critical Connection, a Gaithersburg medical, biomedical and bioscience search firm, as clients.

New contracts

CompuDyne Corp. announced that it gained contracts during January totaling $9 million in the areas of public safety and justice, attack protection, institutional security and integrated electronic systems.

TVI Corp., a provider of rapid deployable first responder systems, based in Glendale, received contract orders for $245,000 from the Colorado Health and Hospital Association for 2 line and 3 line decontamination shelters.

getintegrated Inc., a Baltimore-based human resources outsourcing firm, signed a two-year contract with the National Aquarium in Baltimore to provide human resources services.
