Terps get it done in overtime

COLLEGE PARK — COLLEGE PARK -- As time expired and Georgia Tech missed its second and final attempt at a comeback, Maryland senior forward Nik Caner-Medley expressed his relief with a double-fist pump, and a quiet "Yesss" to no one in particular.

The Terps' 87-84 overtime win over the Yellow Jackets (10-14, 3-10 Atlantic Coast Conference) yesterday at Comcast Center wasn't exactly a flawless execution of the playbook, but it was a gritty win the team desperately needed to slow - if not halt - its slide. Maryland had lost five of its previous six games and is close to missing the NCAA tournament - again.
