A woman died early yesterday after being found burned and suffering from apparent smoke inhalation outside her recreational vehicle home that had caught fire on a lot in Southeast Baltimore, a city Fire Department spokesman said.
The victim - whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives - had been living in the RV on the lot at Chesapeake Maintenance Co., with permission from officials of the business, said Chief Kevin Cartwright, the Fire Department spokesman.
Firefighters responding shortly before 6 a.m. to the blaze in the 6300 block of Cleveland Ave., near the Baltimore County line, found the woman lying outside the vehicle. She died a short time later at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, he said.
Cartwright said a high-voltage electrical line had come into contact with the van. The cause of the fire and the woman's death were under investigation last night, Cartwright said.
