STATS -- The 160-pound junior has proven to be a quick study on the mat. As a freshman, he was recruited to wrestle during gym class. After winning the county's junior varsity title at 152 pounds last season, Barton-Hickman has a 17-5 mark in his first full season of varsity competition this winter. He's strong on the mat and counts on good positioning and leverage to pick up wins. Barton-Hickman, who never played organized sports growing up, has enjoyed the camaraderie he has found with wrestling for the Wildecats.

SIDELINES -- Barton-Hickman, who has a 3.9 grade point average, lists math and science as his favorite subjects. He is considering structural engineering or architecture as possible college majors.
