Capital Gazette wins special Pulitzer Prize citation for coverage of newsroom shooting that killed five




Consecutive dunks in the final 50 seconds of top-ranked Mount St. Joseph's 14-0 run to put away upset-minded Loyola, 63-49, on Jan. 29. The first two tomahawk dunks by Louis Birdsong rattled the rim, and Dino Gregory's two-handed jam bent the rim to stop play. Birdsong then jumped up with a ball and pushed the rim back into place.


Times Archbishop Curley 215-pounder Joe Green, ranked No. 3 in The Sun in his class, has wrestled up at 275 pounds. Green is 6-1 this season at 275 pounds, the weight at which he won last year's Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament title. Green is 27-3 overall with 15 pins, including a 2-0 shutout of Mount St. Joseph 275-pounder Andrew DePalma. Green is 5-0 lifetime against DePalma, who is ranked No. 1 in The Sun at 275.


Consecutive wins for Western's No. 3 girls basketball team after suffering its only loss to St. Frances at the Panther Invitational over the Christmas break. With Friday's 74-36 win over Dunbar, the Doves remained unbeaten against Baltimore City competition.
