Tea and fashion show to be held at Mount Ida


Friends of the Patapsco Female Institute Inc. will hold a Victorian Tea and 19th Century Fashion Show, featuring clothing from the 1800s, at 3 p.m. Feb. 12 at Patapsco Female Institute's Mount Ida Visitor Center, 3691 Sarahs Lane in Ellicott City.

Afternoon tea, served in the early Victorian parlors of the visitor center, which was built about 1828, will be served by hostesses in period dress.

The cost is $25. Reservations are required.

Valentine's dance to be held Saturday

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department's Junior Firefighters will sponsor a Valentine's Youth Dance for ages 9 to 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse, 6275 Old Washington Road, Elkridge.

Tickets, available only at the door, are $7.

Centennial students to present 'Rumors'

The Centennial High School drama department will present Neil Simon's Rumors at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door.


Completes training -- Marine Pvt. Philip H. Chung, son of Jane L. and Pong C. Chung of Ellicott City, has completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Benefit breakfast -- The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department will hold a benefit breakfast for Pieter Lucas, an auxiliary police officer, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at the Elkridge Station, 6275 Old Washington Road. The cost for breakfast is $7; $6 for those ages 55 and older. Children ages 5 to 12 pay $5. Younger children eat free. Lucas was struck by a car while on duty Nov. 23 and lost part of a leg. 410- 313-4901.
