Clara Chisholm, 101, nurse's aide, PTA official


Clara Emma Billet Chisholm, a former nurse's aide, died Aug. 15 at York Retirement Village in York, Pa. She was 101 and had been a longtime resident of Northwest Baltimore.

A native of York, she married William G. Chisholm Sr., an electrical plant operator for Baltimore Gas & Electric Co., in 1921. He died in 1960.

At the age of 40, Mrs. Chisholm became a nurse's aide at York Hospital, where she worked for about five years. In 1951, she moved to Northwest Baltimore, where she lived until 1987, when she returned to York.

She was founder and past president of Roosevelt School PTA in York and a former member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Baltimore. At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in York. According to her son Eugene E. Chisholm of York, she had been active in the church, and had been president of a women's group at Epiphany Lutheran Church.

A service was held Friday.

In addition to her son, she is survived by two other sons, William G. Chisholm Jr. of Dover, Pa., and Ronald Chisholm of Phoenix, Baltimore County; two sisters, Carlin McArthur of York and Venetta Baker of Minden, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
