Marley Station collecting backpacks for needy students

Marley Station in Glen Burnie is collecting backpacks from tomorrow to Aug. 15 to give to needy students for the coming school year.

Backpacks can be dropped off at the Customer Convenience Center on the upper level near Macy's. The first 200 people to donate a backpack will have a chance to win a $250 Marley Station gift certificate.

The annual collection also benefits the Salvation Army.

Bay cruise schedule for 2005 announced

Annapolis Tours & Watermark Cruises have announced 2005 onboard boat events.

Day on the Bay Cruise to Rock Hall: from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Cruise to Rock Hall and have time for lunch, shopping and sightseeing. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children to age 11, and include a trolley ticket.

Three Lighthouse Cruise: at 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 4, plus Sept. 5. A lighthouse keeper will narrate the cruise as it passes by three lighthouses on the bay - Sandy Point Shoal, Baltimore Harbor Lighthouse and Thomas Point Lighthouse. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for children 3 to 11 and free for age 2 and younger.

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce has announced its monthly events.

Corridor chamber to hold networking breakfast

The Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold a joint power networking breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 16 at the conference center at the Maritime Institute, 692 Maritime Blvd., Linthicum.

Participants include the Anne Arundel Tech Council, Business Network International, Entrepreneur's Exchange, Network Referral Group, and chambers covering Baltimore County, Greater Crofton, Greater Severna Park, Northern Anne Arundel County and West Anne Arundel County.

After breakfast, four rounds of 90-second speed presentations will allow attendees the chance to meet a variety of business professionals in less than two hours.

Resolution center to hold communication classes

The Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center will hold a 15-hour training session to teach communication skills vital to the success of important relationships.

Classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays starting Aug. 31 in Suite 130 of the Heritage Center, 2666 Riva Road, Annapolis.

Participants will learn how to reach good decisions, communicate what they want or need, and effectively control their own life. Topics include five styles of dealing with conflict, how to listen and really hear, how to manage conflict with respect, and how to handle values differences.

Gundel Bowen, certified instructor for Dr. Thomas Gordon's Effectiveness Training, will lead the sessions.

Econopark announces new BWI parking site

Econopark Express has announced a new 1,200-space parking site that serves Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

The first day is free and additional days are $4.75, including tax. The parking lot is just off Route 100.

Shuttle buses pick up travelers at the lot and take them to BWI terminals 24 hours a day, as well as returning them to the lot from the airport.

Shuttle drivers also have flight information, and offer bottled water, luggage tags and luggage assistance.

'Sunday Brunch' program returns to the Internet

The Sunday Brunch program has returned to Internet broadcasting at www.WRNR. com.

Producer/Host Michael Buckley mixes new sounds from rock, folk, blues, jazz, classical and spoken word recordings from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sundays.

The program includes the interview series, Voices of the Chesapeake Bay, featuring interviews with people who live in and around the bay region.

Interviews with musicians in various genres are broadcast at 9 a.m.
