Anita M. Holmes, 50, Baltimore security guard


Anita M. Holmes, a Baltimore security guard, died Saturday from complications of diabetes at Millennium Health Services LLC Franklin Square. She was 50.

She was born Anita Marie Ysaguirre in Baltimore and raised on McKean Avenue. She was a 1973 graduate of Eastern High School and worked as a security guard.

Since 1999, she had been a security guard at the Pratt Street transitional housing facility operated by the Volunteers of America.

The West Baltimore resident was an avid gardener and liked listening to music.

"Helping people was her hobby. She'd do anything to help people who needed assistance," said her mother, Rose B. Mitchell of Baltimore.

She was a member of Southern Baptist Church in Baltimore.

Services will be held at noon tomorrow at March Funeral Home, 1101 E. North Ave.

Other survivors include two daughters, Ralonda Holmes and Ranita M. Holmes, both of Baltimore; and two grandchildren. Her marriage to Rufus Holmes ended in divorce.
