Indians update

Their season in tatters not long ago, the Indians are trying to pull it together. They ran off nine straight wins earlier this month, and took two of three from the Boston Red Sox heading into this series. Firing hitting coach Eddie Murray earlier this month was a drastic move, but the Indians have moved six games above .500 and are pushing the Minnesota Twins for second place. Their .257 average before yesterday's 5-2 loss still ranked last in the American League, but their 3.72 ERA was fourth. Cleveland is 29-17 since May 9. Travis Hafner has hit safely in 25 of his past 31 games, batting .327 with eight homers. He's hitting .371 with six homers and 25 RBIs in his past 15 games. The Indians went 3-3 against the Orioles last season, each team sweeping at home.
