South County center announces activities

South County Senior Center will be offering the following activities this month:

Monday, center closed for Independence Day.

Tuesday, 1 p.m., new members to the center will be welcomed at a "New Kids on the Block" session.

Wednesday, 10 a.m., and continuing after lunch at 12:30 p.m., the movie The Aviator.

July 8, Christmas in July sale.

July 11, summer classes begin.

July 11, 12:30 p.m., a Rite Aid pharmacist will review medications. Be sure to bring your over-the-counter as well as prescription medicines.

July 12, 10 a.m., Garden Group will have an aromatherapy seminar.

July 13, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., a special program on organizing bills, legal papers, household records and other documents.

July 13, 1 p.m., country music with Trudy Marie Woomer.

July 20, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., discussion on changes this year in the Medicare Prescription Drug Program.

July 20, 1 p.m., Island Style party with music, dancing and cool fruit drinks.

July 27, 1 p.m., "Children From One to Ninety" puppet show.

Annapolis center members eligible for tennis lessons

Annapolis Senior Center and Annapolis Area Tennis School are offering tennis classes for members of the center. The classes include:

Basics: Tuesdays, July 12 through Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., open to those with little or no experience.

Beyond basics: Thursdays, July 14 through Aug. 18, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., for the more experienced player.

Social mixed doubles for experienced players: Wednesdays, July 13 through Aug. 17, 10 a.m. to noon.

Doubles round robin program for experienced players: Fridays, July 15 to Aug. 19, 10 a.m. to noon.

South County Senior Center is holding registration for the following summer classes, which begin July 11:

July 11, 18 and 25, noon, painting classes, "Scenes of the Chesapeake." Fee: $30.

Mondays, 10 a.m. to noon, "Contemporary Film and Theatre."

Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., "Sketchbooking," classes on making a visual journal of interesting things in your life.

Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to noon, "State Quarters," covering state history, geography and coin collecting.

Tuesdays, 12:30 p.m., classes on good nutrition and seniors, beginning Aug. 16.

Tuesdays, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Piano I, featuring great piano music, mainly sonatas and concertos.

Tuesdays, 1 p.m., "Basket Weaving," techniques to make two finished baskets in four sessions.

Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., focus on how we view animals in our world at "Perceptions of Animals in America."

Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., "Warfare in the Age of Napoleon," an in-depth look at the French military leader and the events of the era.

Pascal Senior Center plans a variety of trips

Pascal Senior Center has announced the following trips for the year:

July 14, two-hour trip on the paddle-wheeler Dorothy-Megan on the Choptank River. Lunch at Suicide Bridge Restaurant, 6304 Suicide Bridge Road, Hurlock.

Aug. 4, Bye Bye Birdie, Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre, Wilmington, Del.

Aug. 18, "Wings of Fancy," a live butterfly show, Brookside Gardens, Wheaton.

Sept. 19-23, trip to Lake Placid, N.Y., and the Adirondacks.

Oct. 1-3, train ride through the Tygart Valley Gorge, W.Va., and visits to Snow Shoe and Elkins.

Dec. 1, Christmas From the Heart, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Lancaster, Pa.

Dec. 8-9, Williamsburg, Va., at Christmastime, and the holiday lights display in Newport News Park.

Dec. 15, concert of songs and carols at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Hanover, Pa. Lunch at Hickory Bridge Farm.
