Officials investigate cause of fire at commercial building

Anne Arundel County fire officials were investigating yesterday the cause of a three-alarm fire at a commercial building in Annapolis on Friday evening, a spokesman said yesterday.

About 8 p.m., county firefighters were called to the four-story building in the 2000 block of West St., said Ariel O. Jackson, a Fire Department spokesman.

The fire started inside the building, Jackson said.

He said the fire was concentrated on the roof of the building, where there appeared to be construction. The fire burned for more than three hours.

A damage estimate was not immediately available, Jackson said.
