The Columbia Art Center will offer a course, Handbuilding with Clay, with artist Christina McCleary, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays, tomorrow through Aug. 15.
Participants, ages 17 and older, will have an opportunity to explore ceramic handbuilding techniques.
Beginning and continuing students are welcome.
The cost is $175 for Columbia residents; $185 for nonresidents.

Library to hold meeting of book club for adults
The east Columbia library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, will hold a meeting of its Never Never Land Book Club for Adults at 7 p.m. July 6.
The adult book discussion group reads juvenile and young adult fiction. Its next selection is Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism by Georgia Byng. Copies of the book are available at the branch.
Tuesday bridge: The 50-Plus Senior Center at the east Columbia library, 6600 Cradlerock Way in Owen Brown village, holds a continuing drop-in intermediate bridge group from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost is $6 a class and includes a snack. There is a $5 fee for a text. Mah jongg classes will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, starting July 11. The cost is $31 for three classes. Free concerts: Free Tuesday night concerts at Lake Elkhorn - sponsored by the Kings Contrivance, Long Reach, Oakland Mills and Owen Brown community associations - are to begin July 5. Banjerdan, a bluegrass performer playing banjo and other instruments, will be featured at 7 p.m. July 5. Almost Recess, an a cappella group of five musicians, will perform July 12, and Milkshake will perform July 19. The series will conclude with a performance by Walt Michael & Company. The concerts, each of which is to begin at 7 p.m., will be held in the band shell (the red Gazebo) at the Lake Elkhorn spillway. Harry Potter: "Harry Potter" programs will be offered at the east Columbia library to celebrate the new book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Participants can see Potter movies, then read the books. Children to age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone will be shown at 6:30 p.m. July 12; Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, at 6:30 p.m. July 13; and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, at 6:30 p.m. July 14.
