Capital Gazette wins special Pulitzer Prize citation for coverage of newsroom shooting that killed five



On Thursday, June 16, 2005, CAROLYN E. WHITE, 86, died at home in Ridgely, MD. Carolyn was born May 29, 1919, in Leominster, MA. During WWII, Carolyn White entered into the US Navy Corps on May 18, 1943 at the USNH in Newport, RI. LT White also served as a Navy Nurse at Cuba, Puerto Rico and Chelsea, Mass., receiving the WWII Victory medal. After her discharge, she was a homemaker. She is the mother of Cathy Keller of Ridgely, Beth Walker of Baltimore, and James M. Swing of Arnold; grandmother of Neil Keller, John Edgell, Frank Walker, James Swing, Jr., Kari Lester and Jason Lester; great-grandmother of Randal Lester, John Ely III, Madisen Edwards, Sierra Lester and Angel Walker; and near family Cindy Goode and John Geisler. In addition to her parents, the late Harold H. and Ethel M. Wilbour White, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Jennifer Walker. Services and Interment private.
