Capital Gazette wins special Pulitzer Prize citation for coverage of newsroom shooting that killed five



Joshua L. Wick wins HCC's leadership award

Joshua L. Wick, a new graduate of Harford Community College, received the Outstanding Student Leadership Award at the college's 47th annual commencement ceremony May 21.

Deborah Cruise, vice president for student development and institutional effectiveness, presented the award, which is given annually to a student who has made significant contributions to the college and the community.

Wick earned an associate of arts degree in general studies. He was an executive board member of the Student Government Association and served as its president in 2003-2004. He was president of the Outdoor Adventure Club, vice president of the College Republicans and an HCC student ambassador.

He was recently recognized by the Maryland Colleges Tobacco Control Partnership for his work in health and tobacco education and received the Chester A. Berry Scholar Award for his co-authorship of an article about community college wellness programming.

Wick will attend Salisbury University in the fall and plans to major in political science.
