Concert violinist to perform at interfaith center

Christ United Methodist Church will sponsor a performance by concert violinist and teacher Tao-Chang Yu as part of its 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.

Tao-Chang Yu will be accompanied by the church's staff musician, Kuei-I Wu, a Peabody graduate and candidate for a doctorate in music at the University of Maryland College Park.

'Popcorn in the Pews' tomorrow in Linthicum

St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Linthicum will hold its summer movie series, "Popcorn in the Pews," at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and on the third Saturday of each month, through Sept. 17.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Popcorn will be available. Wine and cheese will be served after the films.

Trinity Episcopal Church will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25 at 7474 Washington Blvd., Elkridge.

Lubavitch Center sponsoring a Sunday running group

The Lubavitch Center for Jewish Education is sponsoring a Sunday morning running group, meeting weekly with Rabbi Hillel Baron at 7:30 a.m. at the center, 770 Howes Lane, Columbia.

The group aims to boost spiritual and physical energy with readings from meditations of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and a three-mile run. The pace will be about 12 minutes a mile.

There is no cost.

Christ Memorial offering summer Sunday school

Summer Sunday school classes are being offered for all ages at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, 6410 Amherst Ave., Columbia.

Children in preschool through fifth grade can "Journey with Joshua" on an imaginary archaeological dig; middle-schoolers and high-schoolers are invited to help. The church will also present a class for high school students and adults, using videos and a curriculum focused on the lives of Saints Peter and Paul.

The programs will meet at 9 a.m. Sundays, through July 31. Registration is not required. Admission is free.

Support offered for kids whose parents have split

The Faith Journeys Foundation Inc. of Ellicott City is offering support groups for children, ages 9 and older, whose parents have separated or divorced. The next group will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, July 27 through Aug. 31, at Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City.

A wrap-up session for parents is planned Aug. 31.

Summer Sunday school set Sunday at Glen Mar church

"The Armor of God" will be the theme for summer Sunday school at Glen Mar United Methodist Church, starting at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Children ages 2 through fifth grade can participate in hands-on activities, a field day, a movie morning and other events.

Parent Resource Place offering a Shabbat Circle

The Parent Resource Place, a program of Jewish Family Services in Howard County, offers Shabbat Circle, an informal, drop-in playgroup and parent-child Shabbat program at 10 a.m. Fridays at Kahler Hall, in Harper's Choice Village Center, Columbia.

Shabbat Circle includes "Share and Compare," a parent discussion, on the first and third Fridays of each month. The group will discuss car-seat safety today. Rabbi Sonya Starr will be a featured speaker June 24. Stories, songs and a craft will continue to be offered on the second and fourth Fridays of each month.

Admission is free, but registration is requested.
