Linda Armstrong Kelly, mother of cycling champion Lance Armstrong, will sign copies of her new book at Princeton Sports from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Armstrong credits his mother with helping him win his Tour de France races and recover from cancer. Kelly's book, No Mountain High Enough: Raising Lance, Raising Me, will be for sale. Proceeds will be donate to Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center, a support center, lending library and private salon for cancer survivors, their families and friends.
Tap-dance classes set for teenagers and adults
Judy Templeton will offer summer Razz-a-Ma-Tap classes for teens and adults at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center.
Beginners are to meet at 4:30 p.m. Mondays, starting June 20; intermediates are to meet at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $75 for six weeks. Registration is required.
Parents and tots: Town Center Community Association is accepting registration for the summer session of Parents and Tots Playgroups. Sessions begin tomorrow. The groups are limited to about 15 children. Juice will be provided. The groups, for children ages 24 months and older, 6 to 24 months and 6 months to 4 years, meet at Historic Oakland, 5430 Vantage Point Road. Draw, paint: Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor You Can Draw and Paint classes for those ages 55 and older at Cedar Lane Recreation Center, 5081 Cedar Lane, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday through Aug. 16; and at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday through Aug. 18. Participants should take watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels or whatever materials they have on hand. The cost is $55 at Cedar Lane; $44 at the Bain Center. Registration is due as soon as possible. A wire-jewelry class for seniors will be offered from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bain center. Participants will learn to make wire jewelry using simple tools, wire and beads. The cost is $29. "Tips for the Entrepreneur," with Richard Lowery, professor of management and small business at Bowie State University, will be held at 7 p.m. June 22.
