Performer of the Year, Lamar Clayton, Havre de Grace

Winless at the Harford County championships last spring, the senior made amends at the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference meet.

Clayton won three times, claiming the 110 high hurdles in 14.88 seconds, the 300 intermediate hurdles in 39.58 and the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

After grabbing Class 1A North regional crowns in all three events, Clayton nearly repeated that accomplishment at the state meet. He captured the 110 high hurdles in 15 1/4 and the triple jump with a mark of 43-8 1/2 .

Coach of the Year

Don Mickey, C.M. Wright

The Mustangs, who had captured 14 of the past 18 county titles, continued their ways in the inaugural Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference. Blessed with depth from the sprints through the distance events and into the jumps, C. Milton Wright won the conference's Chesapeake Division crown and the UCBAC championship.

The No. 3 Mustangs also upended Baltimore City powerhouse Mervo at the Class 3A North regional meet before finishing second to Mervo at the state championships.
