Boys Player of the Year

Emre Ucal, Arundel

Ucal quickly became the county's best player this year. The junior was dominant in most of his matches, as no one figured out how to handle him.

Ucal won the county tournament and made it to the final at the regionals.

The combination of Ucal and Amy Olson was a big reason that Arundel came away with a regional title.

Girls Player of the Year

Amy Olson, Arundel

Olson certainly made an impression in her first season. The freshman breezed through the county to win the title and followed that with a second-place finish in the regional tournament.

Olson lost early in the states, but her future looks bright.

Coach of the Year

Mike Hudson, Broadneck

Hudson did a nice job with a young team in his first year at the school. His Bruins went 8-3 and finished third in the county and fourth in the region despite having a lineup dominated by underclassmen.

Three freshmen started for Hudson, who came to the area from North Carolina. No. 1 singles players Zach Hare (freshman) and Alyssa Poerio both had strong seasons, and the Bruins return most of their starting lineup next year.
