Player of the Year

Brett Harman, Westminster

The 6-foot-5 sophomore led the county in batting average (.465) and RBIs (23), adding a team-best four homers, 18 runs and 12 steals.

Throwing consistently in the mid-80s, he led the county in wins at 7-1 with a 0.67 ERA (second in the county) and two saves.

Harman led Westminster to a 17-6 record, a share of the county title and the Class 4A North championship.

Coach of the Year

George Richardson, South Carroll

Despite returning just two part-time starters from a year ago, the Cavaliers regrouped from a slow start to capture a share of the Carroll County title for the second straight season.

Richardson said the turning point in the season came in mid-April, when his 2-5 team completed a suspended game by beating Francis Scott Key in 12 innings, then went on to defeat the Eagles in their regularly scheduled game, 9-1. The Cavaliers then went 9-5.
