The Baltimore City and Baltimore County Departments of Public Works this afternoon urged residents of Owings Mills, Reisterstown and the surrounding communities to conserve water for the rest of the day because of ongoing repairs to a 36-inch main on Greenspring Valley Road.
Officials warned that water pumping to storage tanks may be temporarily interrupted as the repairs are made. Owings Mills and Reisterstown-area residents were asked to limit their indoor water usage and avoid outdoor usage through tonight -- except for absolute emergencies -- to keep people in the higher elevations of northwest Baltimore County from losing their service.
Officials expect repairs to the main to be completed tonight, but said full restoration of water service to all the affected areas may not occur until early tomorrow morning.
