North Point officer named 2004 Policeman of the Year

A Baltimore County police officer assigned to the North Point Precinct will be honored tomorrow night by the Optimist Club of Dundalk as its Policeman of the Year for 2004.

Officer Charles Cuddy, a nearly seven-year member of the force, will receive a check for $1,000, a plaque from the club, and letters of appreciation and praise from political and civic leaders for his outstanding service to residents of Baltimore County, said Sandy Biscotti, a former club president.

Among his other law enforcement achievements last year, Cuddy gave out 264 traffic citations, made 12 felony arrests and 44 misdemeanor arrests, and arrested 14 people for serious traffic violations, Sgt. Stephen M. Scherba wrote in his recommendation.

On Nov. 17, Cuddy seized nearly $12,000 and a pound of marijuana from four men parked behind a bank on North Point Road, Scherba wrote.

Two of the men were arrested and charged with felony drug violations, Scherba wrote.
