Two groups offered for children whose parents have split

The Faith Journeys Foundation Inc. of Ellicott City will offer two support groups for children, ages 9 and older, whose parents have separated or divorced.

The groups will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays at Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City.

Session I is to meet from June 15 through July 20; Session II, from July 27 through Aug. 31. Wrap-up sessions for parents are planned July 20 and Aug. 31.

Summer Sunday school set June 19 at Glen Mar church

"The Armor of God" will be the theme for summer Sunday school at Glen Mar United Methodist Church, starting at 10 a.m. June 19.

Children ages 2 through fifth-grade can participate in hands-on activities, a field day, a movie morning and other events.

Jewish Federation plans Women's Event on Tuesday

The Jewish Federation of Howard County will hold a Women's Event, a celebration honoring women in the community, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Isaiah, 12200 Scaggsville Road, Fulton.

The cost is $54. Patrons pay $180 and supporters pay $108. Proceeds will benefit Jewish Family Services, Senior Cultural Connections, Rashi's Daughters and the Rosh Chodesh Girls' Project.

Vacation Bible school to be held June 13-17

St. John United Methodist/Presbyterian Church will hold vacation Bible school from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 13-17 at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center.

Family activities, including arts and crafts, games, creative biblical drama and dinner, are planned

Shrine to hold events honoring St. Anthony

The Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, will hold Il Santo 2005, a weeklong series of events honoring Saint Anthony, from tomorrow to June 10.

"A Study Day on Saint Anthony of Padua" will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow. The cost is $35, including lunch and materials. The Rev. Noel Danielewicz will be the presenter.

A "Concert Under the Arches" will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $10. Reservations are required. The event will include evening prayer, as well as the concert, wine and appetizers.

A "Feast Day Eucharist in Honor of Saint Anthony" will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 10 with Mass. An offering will be taken.

Oseh Shalom Synagogue plans art auction Sunday

Oseh Shalom Synagogue, 7515 Olive Branch Way, Laurel, will hold an art auction at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Bidding is to start at 8 p.m. Items to be auctioned will include hand-blown glass, sports memorabilia, watercolors, oils, lithographs, serigraphs and jewelry. A silent auction will offer restaurant meals, sports tickets and other items.

Admission is $10. Appetizers, desserts, wine, cheese and door prizes are planned.

Hadassah walk Sunday to push cancer awareness

Hadassah of Howard County will sponsor a walk to raise funds to promote cancer awareness at 9 a.m. Sunday at Lake Elkhorn in Columbia. Most of the funds will be donated to the Hadassah Medical Organization's breast cancer research program; some of the proceeds will go to Hadassah's local "Check It Out" program, which provides information to high school students about breast and testicular cancer.
