Arts in Frederick
Visit Frederick's 12th annual Festival of the Arts Saturday and Sunday at its new location along East Church Street. This event features art, entertainment, food and activities for children. Attendees can talk to more than 100 artists and watch demonstrations such as glass-blowing, jewelry-making, metal-working and painting. There also will be live music and a puppet show.

It'll be a blast from the past at Roman Days in Glenn Dale Saturday and Sunday. Re-enactors from Roman Legion XX will show what life was like in ancient Rome. Visitors can watch gladiators depict battle tactics and camp life, as well as a Roman fashion show. There will be games for children and exhibits of antiquities and medicinal herbs.

Ever wanted to know how your milk is made? Learn about the modern farmer Saturday at Beltsville's Agricultural Research Center's Field Day. There will be more than 70 exhibits on agricultural research including interactive games and demonstrations on topics such as biotechnology and food safety. Tours will be given of the center's dairy section. A petting zoo, hay rides and the Beagle Brigade are available for children.
