Original 'Master Works'
Today, Renaissance Fine Art's "Master Works" allows people to browse and purchase original works on paper by Andy Warhol, Joan Miro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall and others. Original works run from $2,000 to $135,000, and some prints are also available.
The event runs today through Tuesday and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Renaissance Fine Art is at 1809 Reisterstown Road. Call 410-484-8900 for more information.
MICA show and sale
At Maryland Institute College of Art, alumni and graduate students are coming together to display and sell their art. The first event of the day on Saturday is the "Graduate Art Show" in the Fox Building at Mount Royal Station, with art from first- and second-year graduate students studying everything from painting to digital imagery. Later in the afternoon the "15x15: A Benefit Alumni Exhibition and Sale" reception in the Fox Building will show artworks in various media created by more than 200 MICA alumni that are 15-by-15 inches or smaller. Forty percent of the proceeds from alumni art will go to the MICA Alumni Scholarship Fund.
The Graduate Art Show reception runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and "15x15: A Benefit Alumni Exhibition and Sale" reception runs from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Throughout the day Saturday at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, the Annapolis Artworks 2005 celebration will feature visual and performing arts showings. Beginning at 10 a.m., the Luminescence art exhibit focuses on lighting objects to create images. Additional exhibits include solo artists, an all-day pastel drawing demonstration with Artist-In-Residence Bonnie Roth Anderson and a gallery talk. Performing arts include outdoor concerts on the Maryland Hall's Labyrinth and a recital from the MSDC dance company.
