Gwynns Falls Trail

The grand opening of the Gwynns Falls Trail is Saturday. The 14-mile greenway will connect more than 30 Baltimore neighborhoods and highlight 2,000 acres of landmarks and cultural amenities. At the grand opening, families can enjoy walking and biking tours, food from local restaurants and live music throughout the day.

The trail opening is at the corner of Sharp and Henrietta streets, south of the Inner Harbor. The festivities will be Saturday from noon until 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 410-396-6132 or visit

Eastern Shore bike tour

The Chesapeake Bay Asthma Ride Bike Tour, the American Lung Association of Maryland's event benefiting children's fight against asthma, takes place this weekend. The completely flat course includes 40-, 62.5- and 100-mile routes that pass through Salisbury's farmlands and golf courses, with a stop at Assateague Island to see the wild ponies indigenous to the area. In the evening, families and corporate teams can enjoy a traditional crab feast. Sunday is the "cool down" section of the bike ride, including 10-, 20-, and 40-mile routes through Eastern Shore landmarks.

The event begins at noon tomorrow and lasts till 3 p.m. on Sunday and starts and ends at Salisbury University, 1101 Camden Ave, Salisbury. Registration varies, based on how many days and overnight stays, but range from $30 to $100 for adults and $30-$40 for kids 12 and under. For more information and registration, see
