The gated garden on Baltimore Avenue known as Towson's Secret Garden will be open to the public today during Towson Gardens Day.
The 19th annual event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Towson courthouse plaza at Pennsylvania and Baltimore avenues, also features about 100 exhibitors and vendors of flowers, plants, crafts and food. Towson High School's jazz band will perform. Free garden seeds and seedlings from Tree-Mendous Maryland and tours of the gardens in front of the old courthouse will be offered, event organizers say.
The Secret Garden, owned by publisher Robert M. Evans, is open to the public once a year, on Towson Gardens Day. Self-guided tours of the garden are $1.
The rest of the event, which kicks off this weekend's Towsontown Festival, is free. The rain date is Friday.
