Theft/arrest: Undercover police officers in the 2700 block of Port Covington Drive observed a man carrying what appeared to be unopened boxes of merchandise into a pawn shop about 11 a.m. Monday. While keeping the man in sight, one of the officers learned that a man moments earlier had stolen three smoke detectors and five utility knives from a nearby Wal-Mart. Questioned and then charged with shoplifting the items from the store was Andrew Morgan, 23, of the 200 block of Lower Magothy Beach Road in Anne Arundel County.
Burglary: A pair of boots, cell phone, jewelry and a coin collection were stolen Monday from a house in the 2300 block of McCulloh St. by someone who entered through a first-floor rear window.
Robbery: A 50-year-old man was walking across the parking lot at Mondawmin Mall about 4 p.m. Monday when he was assaulted by several youths, who robbed him of a cell phone, eyeglasses and a gold chain. The property was valued at $350. The man was not injured.
Robbery: A 24-year-old woman was about to enter the vestibule of her home in the first block of E. Biddle St. about 10:30 p.m. Monday when two men stole her purse containing personal items, credit cards and two checkbooks.
Theft from vehicle: A combination compact-disc player/AM-FM radio valued at $300 was stolen Monday from a 1995 Dodge Neon parked in the 1500 block of Lancaster St.

Burglary: A laptop computer, iPod, 35 mm camera, $2,000 and a watch were stolen Monday from a house in the 1500 block of Rosewick Ave. by someone who entered through a rear basement door.
Burglary: A black leather jacket, a large jar of change and a watch were stolen Monday from a house in the 2500 block of E. Joppa Road, along with a set of keys used by the thief to drive away in the occupant's 1996 Lincoln with tags XKT 577.
Robbery: A gunman robbed a 25-year-old man of $60, a cell phone and a jacket in the first block of Comet Court about 11:45 p.m. Sunday.
Burglary: While a resident of the 300 block of Suter Road was hospitalized, someone broke into his home between Friday and Monday through a door and stole $280.
