The still life
On Sunday, a new show titled Classical Realist Still Life opens at the McBride Gallery in Annapolis. Oil paintings in the show were inspired by the Old Dutch Masters who worked in the 16th to 18th centuries. There will be an opening reception from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The show runs through May 8.

Nationalism and art
Patriot, a new exhibit at the Contemporary Museum in Mount Vernon, is on display now. The exhibit includes works by nine artists from all over the world who explore the theme of nationalism in today's society. The exhibit's curator, Cira Pascual Marquina, will give a gallery talk at 4 p.m. Saturday. The show is on view through June 11.

Maryland artist Margaret Lee has 22 new paintings at Main St. Gallery in Annapolis. Works include coastal and marsh scenes from locations on the Atlantic seaboard. Also, expect several new oil paintings from Lee's new series depicting bottles of wine and port. The show runs through May 8.
