St. Paul's subdues Spalding, 13-6, in boys lacrosse


Virginia-bound All-Metro attackman Gavin Gill scored seven points (two goals and five assists) to lead the way for St. Paul's boys lacrosse team as it defeated Archbishop Spalding, 13-6, in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference game at the newly minted Lax Under The Lights tournament at Johns Hopkins.

Junior midfielder Cryder DiPietro scored three goals to contribute to the victory for the No. 1 Crusaders (8-1, 3-1).

Stuart Wheeler had 12 saves for St. Paul's.

Matt Antonelli had 10 saves for the Cavaliers.

Girls lacrosse

No. 2 St. Paul's 11, No. 6 St. Mary's 3: Duke-bound Megan Del Monte paced the Gators (6-0, 4-0) with five points (four goals, one assist) in their win over the visiting Saints in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A game.

Freshman midfielder Caroline Cochran had a solid game for the Saints (5-3, 2-2) with two goals and five groundballs.

St. Paul's had a 6-1 run to boost the lead from 2-1 to 8-2 at the half.

"We got up early, spread the ball, and Megan did a good job of finding people or scoring herself," Gators coach Jim Stromberg said.

Del Monte scored four of the first five Gators goals.

No. 12 McDonogh 8, No. 9 Mt. de Sales 5: Brittany Mallory and Kim Dubansky scored three goals apiece to lead the visiting Eagles (5-0) over the Sailors (3-4).


No. 7 Broadneck 8, Kent Island 7: Sophomore second baseman Mike Hall hit a bases-loaded, two-out single to score Sean Rohrs in the top of the eighth inning to give the Bruins (6-0) the victory.

Ahead 7-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bruins let the lead slip away when the host Buccaneers (4-3) scored five runs.
