Counselor at The Arc to speak at Feb. 9 information session
The Wall Street Journal recently ran a front-page article about Sarah Ahmed and her work as a counselor at The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region.
A widow with two boys, Ahmed has also cared for three adults with developmental disabilities. Her 17 years of behind-the-scenes work were recognized when The Arc presented her with an Unsung Hero Award in 2002.
Ahmed will speak at an information session, "Meet The Arc," from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at The Arc headquarters, Mary and Carl Stephen Conference Room, 4513 Philadelphia Road, Aberdeen.

Bel Air exhibit to feature historical society clothing
The Historical Society of Harford County Inc.'s Fashion and Finery: Three Centuries of Clothing from the society's collection exhibit will open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Hays House Museum, 324 Kenmore Ave., Bel Air.
The exhibit features most of the pieces in the society's collections arranged in themed groupings throughout Hays House. No closing date has been announced.
Representing material beauty and usefulness from past eras, each item has a social and personal significance.
Admission to the exhibit is $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and students. Tours on days other than Sundays can be arranged for private groups. For more information or to schedule group tours, call 410-838-7691.
Experimental aircraft group to visit Udvar-Hazy Center
The Experimental Aircraft Association is taking a field trip to the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum at Dulles International Airport from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 12.
The bus will depart from the Harford County Airport at Aldino.
