Delaware women top Towson for 11th in row


Tiffany Young scored a seasonal-high 19 points to power the Colonial Athletic Association-leading University of Delaware women's basketball team past Towson, 63-52, last night at Towson Center.

The Blue Hens (13-2, 6-0) have won 11 in a row and 10 straight over the Tigers (11-6, 4-2).

Delaware held Towson to a season-low 33.3 percent shooting, and the 52 points were nine below the Tigers' season average.

Tierra Jackson finished with 18 points for Towson.

McDaniel 77, Johns Hopkins 59: Sara Franz led all scorers with 21 points as the Green Terror (14-2, 9-1) knocked the host Blue Jays (13-3, 8-1) out of first place in the Centennial Conference.

McDaniel outscored Hopkins in the second half 41-24.

Amanda Leese led the Blue Jays with 12 points.

Loyola 76, Rider 65: Jackie Valderas (Seton Keough) had a career-high 21 points to lead a trio of double-digit scorers for the host Greyhounds (6-10, 5-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).

Leanne Moore led the Broncs (4-12, 2-5) with 22 points.

Long Island 62, Mount St. Mary's 57: Sara Oblak led the host Blackbirds (8-8, 4-3 Northeast Conference) with 12 points in their victory over the Mountaineers (3-13, 2-5).

Wesley 60, Villa Julie 51: Tricia Casarotto led all scorers with 22 points as the visiting Wolverines (8-5) defeated the Mustangs (6-8).

Washington College 66, Haverford 61: LaToya Turner scored the Shorewomen's final six points in the last minute of double overtime to beat the visiting Fords (3-11, 1-7 Centennial Conference).

Irene Pastorino had 21 points for the Shorewomen (3-12, 2-7).


St. Mary's 74, Gallaudet 60: The visiting Seahawks (6-9, 2-3 Capital Athletic Conference) went on a 6-0 run with five minutes left and held off a late rally by the Bison (4-9, 0-5).
