'ChesapeakeHome' magazine bought by Patuxent Publishing

Patuxent Publishing Co. has acquired ChesapeakeHome, a house and garden magazine for the Mid-Atlantic region.

The magazine, launched in 1993, will publish seven issues this year - including a kitchen and bath issue and its annual guide to industry experts.

Patuxent, which publishes 15 community newspapers, five magazines and eight telephone directories, is a subsidiary of the Tribune Co., which owns The Sun.

Animal group seeks places to put labeled magazines

Animal Advocates of Howard County is seeking businesses willing to place family magazines that bear labels from the organization in their waiting rooms or lobbies.

The labels promote pet spaying and neutering. The group works to prevent the proliferation of unwanted animals.

Dialogue Group to meet Jan. 28 at resource center

The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Business Resource Center will hold its Dialogue Group meeting at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Center for Business and Technology Development, 9250 Bendix Road North, Columbia.

The group provides an opportunity for informal guidance and support to newly formed businesses; brainstorming on issues of concern; sharing information, ideas and leads; and providing support for business growth.
