Patricia Kloes, 60, Social Security employee


Patricia Kloes, a longtime Social Security administrator, died of cancer Jan. 10 at her home in Severna Park. She was 60.

She was born in Highlandtown and raised in Loch Raven. She graduated from Parkville High School in 1963 and from Bridgewater College in Virginia in 1967.

She played on three undefeated Parkville basketball teams and played basketball at Bridgewater.

After graduating from college, she taught school in Virginia for two years. She returned to Maryland in 1970 and was a claims authorizer for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, where she was later a systems analyst. She retired in 1995.

She was a longtime member of the American Legion auxiliary in Severn and was its president for three terms.

She enjoyed cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, and boating and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Services were held Thursday.

She is survived by a brother, Mark Kloes of Dundalk; and two sisters, Peg Kloes of Loch Raven and Stephanie Mullar of Duck Key, Fla.
